Recent News Game Recap: Cal Poly A vs. USD - Feb 7, 2010The Cal Poly women's lacrosse team rolled to a 25-1 win over the University of San Diego Toreros on Sunday, February 7. Although the Mustangs failed to score the first goal, they quickly gained momentum and dominated the entire contest. Sophomore attacker Amanda Nespor led the Mustangs with six goals and two assists. Stacy Patch, a junior attacker and co-captain, dished out four goals and one assist. Senior midfielders Hayley Saxton and Sarina Madnick also contributed four goals each. Goalie Paige Spalding returned to the field after nearly a year-long absence due to a knee injury. Spalding shined as she saved 10 of the 11 shots shot on goal. Fall Wrap-up - Nov 21, 2009 San Luis Obispo, CA – The Mustangs traveled to Santa Barbara October 18 to participate in the Santa Barbara Fall Brawl. Playing under new head coach, Robert Novorolsky, Cal Poly came out strong, defeating University of Oregon 11 – 1. In their second game, the Mustangs faced UCLA. Both teams struggled to gain momentum throughout the game, but Cal Poly ultimately pulled ahead in the final minutes to win the match-up 9 – 8. In their final game, Cal Poly defeated the unofficial University of Redlands Bulldogs 13 – 5.

On November 7, the Mustangs headed back to Santa Barbara to play against the UCSB Gauchos for their annual Family Weekend.
“Our transitions looked really good. I feel we all have a similar goal in mind and we are all ready to play well,” said sophomore attacker Amanda Nespor.
The Mustangs came out strong, though the Gauchos came close to tying the game at halftime. After leading 8-7 at the half, Cal Poly pulled ahead for the win, defeating the Gauchos 18 – 14.
Cal Poly wrapped up its fall pre-season with its annual alumni game on October 14. The Mustangs defeated their alumni 14 – 12.
“I am really looking forward to what we can achieve in the season, and regaining our status as national champions,” said Saxton. If pre-season serves as any indication, it looks as though the Mustangs are ready. Alumni Weekend - Nov 14, 2009 Thank you to all the alumni who came back to San Luis to participate in Alumni Weekend! In a close game Saturday afternoon, the current Cal Poly players beat the reunited alumni 14-12. Following the game, mixed teams of alumni, returners and rookies competed in a fun scavenger hunt around town. The weekend ended with dinner, which included updates from the alumni and each girl sharing their favorite Cal Poly lacrosse memories. UCSB pre-season game - Nov 7, 2009 This Saturday UCSB invited Cal Poly to Santa Barbara for their Parent's weekend. The first game was UCSB's B team against Cal Poly's developmental team. The teams were a good match-up with a back and forth game ending with UCSB coming up with a close 14-13 win. The second game was between the UCSB and Cal Poly A teams. This was the first match-up between the two rival teams since last season. In a high scoring game, Cal Poly beat UCSB 18-14. Santa Barbara Play Day - Oct 18, 2009 This Sunday Oct. 18, the CP Women's Lacrosse team played in the Santa Barbara play day. Some of the opponents faced included University of Oregon, UCLA and Redlands among others. The "gold" team went 3-0 at the tournament. In the first game the Mustangs started strong by taking U of Oregon 12-3, then went on to come up with a close win against UCLA 9-8. The last game of the day was against D3 Redlands where Poly finished the day off with a 13-5 win. Overall, the tournament had a great turnout and the team kicked off their fall pre-season with enthousiasm for a fresh season and potential with their new coach, Robert Norvolsky, to compliment their talent.
